It is one of the most talked item in the blogosphere, and yesterday it got released in the USA. As you may know AT&T has the exclusive rights for the iPhone because of a 2-year contract they made with Apple. Meaning in can be activated by AT&T only, it’s also mentioned that even the iPod features don’t work before activation. So if your in Kuwait like me, then chances are it can’t be activated here, well only if you place your bets on a Hacker which I will probably do. Also it’s rumored that on this Monday, Apple is going to announce the official Carrier for the iPhone in Europe, which is Vodafone, yup that means us too, statistically speaking, since our beloved MTC is called MTC-Vodafone. One of the most notable thing is that the European version of the iPhone supports 3G, and since the contract is rumored to be 3 years, it makes sense for Apple to use 3G since Vodafone doesn’t want to be stuck with slower Edge Technology for that long.

So to summarize, either you take the risk and buy it online in hopes of a way to activate it and unlock it to make it work in Kuwait, or wait for the European version which should be announced this Monday according to the rumors.

nice!, But I wouldnt get my hopes high because MTC’s contract with vodafone is over and they wont renew, Its going to be called Zain as an international logo. I’ll bet on hackers as well.

the other day I saw a picture on Flickr from some guy in Qatar who bought an iPhone..
Off cours that guy couldn’t care less if it works in Qatar.. he only bout it to show it off on Flickr and telling people I have an iPhone!!

Hellooo .. Im in USA now, you wont imagine people RUSH and look for the “iPhone” .. it is officially sold out in AT&T, and in the Apple Stores for $499, or $599 ..
Other shops sell them for at LEAST $999 !!! .. Thats why i didnt buy one yet :P .. I will order it online hehe !! ..
and for people in Kuwait .. if you have money, Ebay has two for sale .. they Reached $16,000 Which is CRAZY !! ..
However, My Question is if i buy it from here .. will it work when i come back to Kuwait ?! ..

I recommend everyone to check this blog http://www.unlockiphone.info it keeps track of unlocking attempts for the iPhone, still there aren’t any successful attempts to unlock the Phone functionality as im aware of. I’ll keep this post updated, so check regularly
How about if get an already unlocked iphone, apple released 100 unlocked iphones for publicity, will those work in kuwait knowing that they r unlocked?

well, when they annouced that iPhone is going to be available in the markets in june the 29th, i wished something, that I CAN GO TO AMERICA TO SEE IT WITH MY OWN EYES !!, it’s everybody dream, even people who are not interested in Apple products or even technology in general, and about the rumor, i wish that comes true, if it so, i’m going to sign in apple.com now to order my iPhone !!
and about the 3G, honestly, that doesn’t sounds like a big problem !!

Hello : i would like to take your decision about the iphone should i buy it from the USA or wait the European version of the iPhone that supports 3G or it doesn’t matter so i can order one now .. You now that it will be double the price in Q8 for no reason :(

When they asked why the current model didn’t have 3G, Jobs blamed power issues saying that the 3G chipset would be too much of a drain on the unit’s battery life which promises 8 hours of call time, but said that future models would have the technology.
